Challenge
The Sophia children hospital in Rotterdam was looking for an innovative multimedia solution to create a more joyful stay in the hospital. We, me and my classmates, needed to come up with a prototype, marketing plan and a sponser who could fund the whole project. I had the role of designer.
Solution
Walia, a digital and decorative wall. The digital wall is projected with a beamer in front of every hospital bed, providing every kid there own wall. Kids can decorate their wall by drawing with a special pen, or by adding posters and images from the digital library. To make the kids feel less homesick we integrated a messages function. Kids can send free messages to friends and families email addresses. Friends and family can respond by sending paid messages directly to the wall trough Hema.nl, the website of one of the biggest retail store organizations in Holland. The orange bird is the mascotte of Walia and helps the kids interact with the wall.
Result
A prototype of the digital wall and a website where friends and family can send messages.
